Is work-life balance a myth?

And if not, why is it so elusive?

This came up for me when I quit my job and went out on my own as a biz consultant slash yoga teacher in the making.

I knew I wanted to take a break from being an employee so I could figure out what I wanted.

Only to realise that more freedom doesn't automatically mean more balance.

Because I didn't need a 9-5 job to still put maximum pressure on myself.

At first, I dove into the same patterns that fried my nervous system in the first place.

I took all the freelance & yoga gigs I could find until I was too drained to step on my own mat.

I didn’t have clear boundaries around my personal time so work spilled into everything.

I didn’t acknowledge how far I’d come already and kept waiting....

For a time when things would magically fall into place...

When I'd finally deserve a break and get into a 'normal' rhythm.

If you're nodding your head right now thinking "yup that's me", you're not alone.

Luckily I changed course and you can too.

But I'm now much gentler with myself.

Because I have a vision-driven plan & trusted practices to fall back on for when things get out of hand.
